Womens and Mens Sizing Recommendations

We recommend the inner sole of the Andie Boot to be around the same length as your foot. The neoprene lining around your foot will soften over time.

Andie boots run true to size. We suggest you go with your standard shoe size (don't order bigger for socks.) If you wear thick socks, then measure your foot wearing the thicker socks. Send us an email if you are unsure about sizing.

The boots should be slightly snug to start as the natural rubber will soften with wear. The insole is removable which can add about half a size when removed, or you can add your own footbed or orthotic.

How do I measure my foot length?

Stand with your weight evenly distributed across both feet. Place a ruler or measuring tape against a wall and measure from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe (this isn't always your big toe). Measure both feet and use the longer measurement when choosing your size. If you usually wear thick socks with your boots, measure with the socks on.

Which insole should I measure?

Use the inner sole length column in the measurement chart above. Match your foot length to the inner sole length for the size you're considering. Your foot should be the same length as the inner sole, or up to about 1 cm shorter, so the inner sole is the same length as your foot or very slightly longer. Andie inner soles run from 23 cm (EU 36) to 28.7 cm (EU 43).

What do I do if I'm a half size? Are these true to size?

Yes, our boots fit true to size. If you're a half size, don't guess based on your usual shoe size. Measure your foot and choose the size where the inner sole is 0.5 to 1 cm longer than your foot. The inner sole length for each size is in the measurement chart above.

Where should I measure to get an accurate measurement of the width?

Measure across the widest part of your foot (around the ball of the foot or bunion joints), then compare to the inner sole width on the size chart. Our Andie boots are a standard B width.

If I'm a half size am I better to go up or down a size?

Neither by default. Measure your foot first. The right size is the one where the inner sole is 0.5 to 1 cm longer than your foot (use the inner sole length column in the measurement chart above). The neoprene lining will soften and mould to your feet over time like memory foam, so a slightly snug start is normal.

What size should I go for if I have one foot bigger than the other?

Go with the size that fits your larger foot. If the difference is significant, you can remove the innersole on the larger side for up to half a size extra room, or add an orthotic to the smaller side for a snugger fit.

Wish I could love them
I have loved Merry People for years and will continue to do so with Bobbi and Tully boots, however, Andie missed the mark in a very painful way. I have had them for over a year now, and no matter how much I wear them, they rub the skin off the back of my leg every time I wear them. If I wear really thick, long socks, which makes the boots feel tight on the arch of my foot, then the skin remains intact, but I have large, tender indentations and bruising in the same spot. I can never wear these boots for more than one day, as I need healing time in between, and I can't wear them on a day when I am active, as walking becomes too painful by late afternoon. The saddest part for me is that I ADORE the colour, and it is not available in the other boot styles. My Tully boots don't hurt at all as they have the flexible neoprene at the back of the boot, but they have a very chunky sole, making them heavy to wear. If Merry People made a pair of boots in this ginger colour, with the Andie sole and the Tully shape and style, I would be forever grateful. I adore my Bobbi's (4 colours now) and wear them every day in Autumn and Winter, but when you want to dress it up a bit, I thought the Andie was my answer, but it really let me down, quite painfully.
Please, Merry People, make the Tully boot in this Ginger colour, even if you leave the huge sole. It is understated and classic as a colour, but not boring. The colour and sole get 5 stars, the pain gets 0. From a hopeful and faithful…

The best boots I’ve ever worn! 🤩
Well, I’m not surprised that Merry People have so many 5 star reviews. I’m a farmers daughter and have spent most of my life in wellies. These boots are the most comfortable and stylish boots I’ve had. The anti slip on the bottom is fab and the cushioning inside is blissful. I’ve always had Le Chameau wellies but will only be buying Merry People from now on. Can’t wait to buy a full sized pair.

The perfect elevated gumboot!
I have been considering a pair of Merry People boots for some time so finally bit the bullet last week and ordered the Andie boots in ginger. They arrived today and I am so in love with them, I don’t want to take them off! I used the scanner to get the correct size and upsized as recommended. They are perfect! Great colour and as comfy as a pair of socks. This won’t be my last pair of your boots that’s for sure.

Unwearable
I have never had a more uncomfortable pair of boots. I was so excited to get these as I love the look but sadly that is where it ends. The tops of the boots dig into my shins so badly that they leave dents in my skin. The tops are not soft and have no give. I have tried to wear them with high thick socks but still I am unable to walk very far before they dig in.
I did contact merry people to be told that they will soften in time and that they will not refund or replace. They suggest that I keep wearing and that they will soften in time.
What a waste of money
